Charlotte Mecklenburg Album Club, April 29th, 7pm

I'll be doing a Zoom chat with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library next Thursday, April 29th at 7pm about that place that I and so many others still miss, the Double Door Inn. Spread the word, see you in the onlines, and see you on the road.

The Last Days Of The Double Door Inn

As I photographed the last few nights of the Double Door Inn, as 2016 turned into 2017, I realized that the photos were becoming its own project. The story of the venue, which I would write again later in 2017, were one thing. The photos were telling their own story, which is now collected in The Last Days Of The Double Door Inn.

The familiar spaces and faces. All of the character that we knew so well. The music, and the good times. No need for words, it's all there. I intended to put this book together in 2018, but life got in the way, until life for most of us came to a halt earlier this year.

While it is strange for me to release this book in the middle of so much turmoil, perhaps it shouldn't be. For many of us, the Double Door was the place that the world needs more than ever. No lines, no division, just people, laughter, music and fun. We all could use our own Double Door Inn right now. Let us celebrate the past, and remember that a dream lives on, as long as there are those that are willing to dream of it.

Welcome back to the Double Door Inn.

Sunday Events

Sunday, photos, music and looking out over Badin Lake at Scallywags Restaurant. Drove back to Charlotte via Monroe, listening to Big Band music. Then, over to Sam Tayloe's house for photos of his FB live show. Ah, photography, travel and music. I remember it well. Oh, and my Last Days Of The Double Door Inn photo book is now available. Here's the link, but more tomorrow. Love to all. Peace, my friends. See you there, and see you on the road.
